A Quality Engineer is required by a leading engineering organisation based in Chester. This is a permanent role with a salary dependent on experience and will be reporting directly to the Quality & Technical Manager. As the Quality Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring that production processes meet our highest standard in terms of Quality whilst ensuring that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the Quality Management System to fulfil our regulatory requirements and maintain consistency.
My client’s organisation specialises in the design, manufacture, and installation of steel products providing high quality, tailored solutions for customers in the UK, Europe and Worldwide. All work is carried out from their head offices in Chester, offering state-of-the-art design, fabrication, machining, and assembly work.
Key responsibilities and tasks will include:
* Analyse non-conformance data for improvement opportunities – review data of non-conformances to identify quality improvement opportunities through inspection and/or production processes. Establish action plans and engage relevant departments to implement required improvements.
* Assist with timely resolution of customer, supplier, and internal non-conformances to ensure that solutions are appropriate and issues are resolved to our satisfaction.
* Assist the Quality Manager in checking supplier conformance capabilities to evaluate new suppliers and the maintenance of existing suppliers.
* Support the development of lean philosophy throughout the plant.
* Attend and conduct meetings as required ensuring that relevant information is communicated effectively.
* Conduct Quality Audits on Suppliers as required.
Key skills and experience required for this role will ideally include:
* HNC/HND or equivalent in an engineering discipline and a Lean Manufacturing qualification would be viewed advantageously.
* Quality Technician/Engineering experience with knowledge of ISO90001 Quality Management Systems.
* Use relevant tools to analyse and improve production processes (e.g. process flow, poke yoke, SMED, VAVE, FMEA)
* Ideally knowledge of manufacturing processes in fabrication, machining, castings, etc.
* Proven Project/Root Cause problem solving skills
* The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
* Self-motivated and tenacious to drive work through to completion.
* Computer literate with MS Office and MS Project.
