We’re looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Assistive Technology Assistant to join our vibrant Education team here at Portland College. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting learners to access technology, enhancing their independence and learning experience.

In this varied and rewarding role, you will:

•Assess and report learners’ assistive technology needs during the initial assessment and baseline period

•Monitor the progress of learners' use of AT to support achievement

•Provide Assistive Technology support to aid independence in education and leisure time.

•Deliver a range of learning sessions to small groups or on a 1:1 basis

•Manage and maintain Learners and FE staff SharePoint Sites

•Carry out offsite visits, including but not exclusive to employers, learners’ homes and care providers, work alongside MDT / Therapy Teams

•Contribute to reports (initial assessment, baseline, transition plans)

•Liaise with external agencies to meet the technical needs of learners, including suppliers and manufacturers

•Maintain environments to meet Health and Safety requirements and standards

•Provide training to staff/families and carers in the use of technology

About You

•You are a proactive and organised individual with a genuine passion for supporting learners with disabilities

•You have strong IT skills and a creative approach to problem-solving, along with excellent communication and teamwork abilities

•You have experience working in a multidisciplinary team and with people who have a range of disabilities or learning difficulties

This role involves regulated activity with our learners therefore we will be required to carry out an enhanced with child and adult barred lists DBS check as part of our pre-employment checks.

Qualifications needed

Essential

Maths and English at Level 2 or GCSE Grade C or a willingness to work towards within an agreed timescale

Desirable

Assistive Technology qualification or willingness to work towards as required for the role within the agreed timescale

Working Hours

Monday – Friday: 9:00am – 5:00pm
