Role Summary:
Practice Development Midwives are central to assisting midwives and learners to enhance the quality of the clinical learning environment, supporting colleagues in pursuing their on-going professional development activities
The post holder will assist in the development and co-coordination of clinical skills and training programmes to meet the educational and development needs of maternity team.
This role has been created to work alongside the consultant midwives and senior midwifery team in providing the support to those who are newly qualified, newly appointed or recently allocated to working in OUHFT maternity services, and alongside the wider practice development team, students and support workers in these areas
Main duties of the job
The Practice Development Midwife will work within clinical practice to:
·Plan and co-ordinate the development and on-going training for newly qualified and newly appointed midwives across the inpatient and outpatient hospital setting.
·Work / days per week as hour days
·Work in a clinical role for of their hours (including the bleep holder rota)and need to be flexible to meet the organisational demands of the service.
·Line managerial responsibilities for members of the Practice Education Team
·Shared team working, flexibility and deputising across the Practice Development Team
·Work as a catalyst to explore new ways of working to deliver cost effective quality care
·Work with the senior midwifery team to develop and deliver high standards of training which is evidence based and in accordance with MPIS and SBLs V
·Plan and co-ordinate multi-professional education provision in the maternity department. They will plan and co-ordinate a specialised programme of maternity mandatory training - OXMUD, Skills and Drills, Nurse’s Study Day, support PROMPT as well as facilitating other multi-professional training
·The post holder will work within Trust guidelines/ policies/ protocols and the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s codes and recommended practices.
