HSE Manager - 6-Month Maternity Cover FTC Carmarthen Salary: £50,000 Overview A vacancy has arisen for a Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager (Maternity Cover) to join a large, fast-paced site in Carmarthen. Reporting to the Site Director, with a dotted line to the UK Head of Health & Safety, this role offers both operational and strategic responsibility, supporting the leadership team to deliver key safety and environmental objectives. The position sits within a leading UK food manufacturer, part of a major European group known for its long-term stability, commitment to sustainability, and strong culture of innovation - offering real opportunities to drive change and grow professionally. Responsibilities Provide expert support and guidance on all Health, Safety, Fire, and Environmental legislation, ensuring legal compliance across site operations. Lead risk assessments, accident investigations, and the development of safe working practices to reduce incidents and promote a strong safety culture. Monitor and report on site HSE performance, maintaining accurate data, supporting audits, and recommending practical improvements. Deliver and coordinate health and safety training, ensuring training matrices are up to date and refresher sessions are completed. Manage RIDDOR reporting, emergency procedures, and statutory compliance, including machinery safety and contractor controls. Support environmental compliance, including ISO audit readiness, permit monitoring, and liaison with relevant authorities.Qualifications Minimum of three years' experience in a Health & Safety Managerial role, preferably in Food Manufacturing. NEBOSH General Certificate minimum Have a good commercial approach to managing business risk. Good negotiating and self-organisation skills.
