Escape Recruitment is working in partnership with a well-established advanced manufacturing organisation based in Perth to recruit a Quality Engineer. This is a varied, hands-on role combining day-to-day quality support with the delivery of process improvement and manufacturing projects across a production environment.
This position would suit someone who enjoys being on the shop floor, solving problems at source, and driving practical improvements that make a real difference to quality, efficiency and consistency.
The Role
This role blends operational quality activities with project-based improvement work. You will split your time between supporting daily production quality requirements and leading or contributing to structured improvement initiatives across manufacturing processes and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Quality & Production Support
* Carry out routine and ad-hoc inspections on products and manufacturing processes
* Ensure internal quality standards are applied consistently across production
* Support the capture, analysis and reporting of quality data
* Assist with incoming material checks and supplier quality activities
Process Improvement & Projects
* Support the planning and delivery of manufacturing and process improvement projects
* Lead smaller improvement initiatives focused on yield, efficiency, waste reduction and process stability
* Collect and analyse data to identify trends, root causes and improvement opportunities
* Support trials of new materials, methods or process changes
Documentation & Compliance
* Create and maintain technical documentation such as work instructions, process descriptions and control plans
* Contribute to risk assessments, change documentation and improvement reports
* Ensure activities align with quality systems, regulatory requirements and internal standards
Collaboration
* Work closely with production teams to support stable daily operations
* Partner with engineering to improve equipment performance and reliability
* Collaborate with technical and development teams on trials, improvements and process changes
* Support quality specialists with scrap reduction, yield improvement and performance metrics
About You
You will be a proactive, hands-on engineer with a strong interest in quality and manufacturing improvement, comfortable working in a production environment and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.
Essential:
* Degree in Engineering, Science or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
* Working knowledge of project delivery or improvement methodologies
* Understanding of Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement principles
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to communicate effectively with operators, engineers and management
* Self-motivated with a practical, improvement-focused mindset
Desirable:
* Experience in a manufacturing, engineering or R&D environment
* Exposure to materials science, chemistry or physics-based processes
* Experience working with technical documentation and process control
