Overview
Location: The Wilmslow Hospital, 52-54 Alderley Rd, Cheshire.
Hours: Full time – 37.5 hours per week
Shifts: Mon-Sat (early shift 07:30–15:30; late shift 13:00–21:00)
Salary: Up to £35,000 depending on experience + 4% shift enhancement

An exciting opportunity awaits enthusiastic and dedicated Staff Nurse with strong communication skills to join the dynamic Outpatient Nursing Team at The Wilmslow Hospital.
At the Wilmslow Hospital, we provide advanced diagnostic and treatment services using cutting-edge technology, including a 3T MRI scanner and 2 state‑of‑the‑art laminar flow theatres, a ward with 5 en suite rooms (3 for day-case procedures), 13 consulting rooms, a minor treatment area, pre‑op assessment and a comprehensive diagnostic imaging suite, and a dedicated women’s health unit. The Outpatient Department supports a wide range of specialties, offering excellent opportunities for professional development.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and monitor vital signs.
* Assist with minor procedures (e.g., hysteroscopies, shave excisions, biopsies, etc.), diagnostic tests, and clinical interventions.
* Support consultants during outpatient clinics and ensure smooth patient flow.
* Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and clinical activities.
* Prepare clinic rooms and ensure all equipment is clean, functional, and ready for use.
* Uphold patient dignity, privacy, and comfort throughout their visit.
* Provide clear health education and post‑treatment advice to patients and their families.
* Act as a chaperone during consultations and procedures when required.
* Respond promptly to medical emergencies and support the crash team as needed.
* Adhere to infection prevention and control protocols, including decontamination of instruments.
* Manage stock levels and ensure the safe and efficient use of clinical supplies.
* Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care.
* Participate in audits, training, and continuous professional development activities.
* Escalate concerns or changes in patient condition to senior staff appropriately.
* Maintain strict confidentiality in all patient and staff interactions.
* Report concerns promptly to the Head of Department or Matron.
Qualifications
Essential
* Registered Nurse with active NMC registration.
* Previous experience in a healthcare setting, ideally within Outpatients.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
* Commitment to personal and professional development.
* Flexible and responsive to change.
* The ability to be flexible with working patterns, around the needs of the service.
Desirable
* Teaching and mentoring skills.
* Phlebotomy skills.
* Previous Outpatient experience.
* Wound care experience.
