Technical Advisor & Training Officer: Plumbing & Heating
Location: Edinburgh (Hybrid: 3 days office / 2 days home). Salary: £36,000 - £40,000 (DOE). Contract: Permanent, Full-Time (34.5 hours).
Benefits: 24 days holiday + 10 public holidays, 7.5% employer contribution pension, Mon‑Thurs 9am‑5pm, Friday 9am‑4:30pm, Group Life Assurance, Wellbeing Support.
About the Role
SNIPEF (The Scottish and Northern Ireland Plumbing Employers Federation) is seeking an expert Technical Advisor & Training Officer to join their Technical Team in Edinburgh. This central, newly‑created role is ideal for a motivated individual—perhaps a Plumbing/Heating Lecturer or an experienced professional—committed to developing the next generation of the industry. You will play a key part in raising professional standards across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Key Responsibilities (The Impact You’ll Make)
* Expert Guidance: Provide authoritative technical advice and support to members on all matters, including plumbing, heating, water safety, building standards, and gas safety.
* Training Design & Delivery: Design, develop, and deliver high‑quality training sessions, workshops, and presentations through the SNIPEF Academy.
* Inspections & Compliance: Conduct technical and member inspections, provide technical input for certification schemes, and contribute to SNIPEF’s complaints process.
* Improvement: Review technical standards and continuously improve training content and member support services.
Qualifications and Skills
* Extensive, hands‑on experience and technical expertise in plumbing and heating systems.
* Recognised qualifications in plumbing, heating, or a related discipline.
* Strong communication and presentation skills with proven experience delivering training, mentoring, or technical presentations.
* A proactive, solution‑focused approach and excellent organisational skills.
* A positive, professional, and approachable manner.
Note on Qualifications: While an Assessor qualification is preferred, this is a newly created position and we are happy to support the right candidate in obtaining this if required.
