Job Overview
The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for conformance and continuous improvement activities for suppliers in the UK region. The SQE ensures suppliers comply with engineering requirements, engages in ongoing improvement activities, performs onsite audits and product assessments to ensure compliance with Aerospace and Defense industry standards, and verifies the effective implementation of corrective actions.
Your main tasks:
* Act as the single point of contact for supplier quality topics and issues
* Lead APQP activities to ensure incoming quality before PPAP and production release
* Drive continual supplier performance improvement through coaching, training, recognition, restrictions, or disqualification
* Measure, monitor, and communicate supplier performance and trends across the organization
* Evaluate, qualify, and approve new suppliers in collaboration with commodity teams
* Review and approve/reject supplier PPAP submissions for new and changed components
* Monitor and analyze quality data, ensuring accuracy and supplier compliance with specifications
* Partner with engineering to clarify and amend specifications for incoming goods
* Communicate and enforce organizational requirements and expectations to suppliers
* Oversee and validate supplier corrective/preventive actions (8D, containment, audits, and roadmaps)
* Conduct supplier audits (AS9100), source inspections, product assessments, and support QBRs with key suppliers
What your background should look like
* Degree in relevant engineering discipline
* 8+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
* AS9100 Lead Auditor certification
* 5+ years in a supplier development role
* Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification
* 5+ years conducting quality audits
* Practical application of 8D, 5-Why, and Ishikawa tools
* Excellent people skills
* Must be able to travel 50% - 75% of the time
