Document / Information Controller – Construction
Location: Northampton
Contract: Freelance, until March 2026
Our client, a well-established Principal Contractor delivering a project in Northampton, is seeking an experienced Document / Information Controller to join the project team on a freelance basis through to March 2026.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and controlling all project documentation to support efficient communication and compliance across the site team and supply chain. This is a site-based role offering an important position within the project’s operational structure.
Key Responsibilities

Manage document control processes using the project’s electronic document management system (e.g., Viewpoint/4Projects, Asite, BIM360, Aconex, etc.)

Upload, track, and distribute drawings, technical documents, and specifications
*
Maintain accurate document registers and ensure up-to-date information is always available
*
Support site, engineering, and commercial teams with document-related queries
*
Ensure compliance with project and client documentation procedures
*
Handle version control, approvals, workflows, and archiving
*
Liaise with subcontractors to ensure timely and accurate documentation submission
Requirements
*
Proven experience as a Document Controller / Information Controller within the construction industry
*
Background working for a Main Contractor or Principal Contractor (essential)
*
Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail
*
Strong communication and coordination abilities
*
Ability to work onsite in Northampton
*
Availability for a long-term freelance contract through to March 2026
