Overview
Clinical Nurse Specialist in Stoma Care at NHS – based at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay. This role supports the Colorectal/Stoma Clinical Nurse Specialist Service, working with the Colorectal MDT, Consultants and the multi-professional team to plan, implement and evaluate expert nursing care, and provide specialist advice and psychosocial support to patients and carers following stoma formation for a range of diagnoses including colorectal cancer. The post involves hospital and community settings to ensure continuity of a seamless, holistic approach to patient care.
You will contribute to clinical practice, education, research/audit, and the implementation of national guidelines, and be required to make quality improvements in Stoma Care. Applicants should be registered nurses who are enthusiastic, motivated, and have excellent communication skills. Stoma care and colorectal experience is an advantage but not essential. Ability to drive is essential.
Responsibilities
* Care management of patients in hospital, community and other care settings.
* Able to actively assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based patient care, incorporating the whole patient pathway.
* Provide expert advice to patients, carers/relatives, clinical practitioners and peers.
* Provide specialist education and training to others.
* Work collaboratively with clinical colleagues to develop services and evaluate quality of care delivered.
* Contribute to the development of clinical services within the specialist field.
Qualifications
Essential
* 1st Level Registered Nurse
* Degree in relevant subject
* Specialist postgraduate level training or equivalent experience
* Or short courses with relevant clinical experience
Desirable
* Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma in relevant subject

We operate from three main hospitals – Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, plus community premises across Morecambe Bay.
