The company is a global organisation with UKAS-accredited laboratories specialising in contract analytical testing for the water, utilities, agrochemical and defence industries. Their Bedford site has state-of-the-art analytical facilities for environmental testing, capable of detecting extremely low levels of pollutants. They are hiring a Senior GC-MS Analytical Chemist to join their team. You will provide clients with effective solutions to stay in compliance with environmental quality standards (EQS) and maximum residue limits (MRLs).
Responsibilities
* Daily operation of single and triple quadrupole GC-MS and other analytical instruments.
* Supervise a team of GC analysts and extractors, ensuring correct preparation of samples for analysis.
* Develop and validate new methods for GC-MS and other analytical tools.
* Carry out maintenance and troubleshooting of analytical instruments and methods as needed.
* Conduct Non-Conforming Work investigations to remain in line with quality standards.
* Deal with possible hazards, such as manual handling, using display screens and chemicals.
Qualifications
* BSc in Chemistry or related subject.
* Must have solid experience and knowledge of GC-MS and GC-MS/MS.
* Must have experience in method development and validation for GC-MS.
* Must have experience in maintaining and troubleshooting trace GC analysis.
* Experience of working in a UKAS-accredited laboratory within environmental, soil and water testing.
* Be familiar with quality assurance procedures, such as ISO 17025.
* Previous experience as an extraction chemist and analyst.
* Previous experience in managing a team.
