Overview
Housing Options Officer – Grade 6, £33,699 up to £38,220 per annum pro rata plus standby and call out payments. 18.5 hours per week/37 hours over two weeks, 12 month fixed term contract. Suggested working pattern (negotiable).
We are looking for a knowledgeable and dedicated Housing Options Officer to join the Housing Options Service and build on the excellent results in homelessness prevention. You will offer professional advice on a range of housing options to potentially homeless customers, work with customers to resolve their housing situation (emphasising homelessness prevention), and apply relevant legislation.
Responsibilities
* Conduct interviews with customers, including in stressful situations, and carry out home visits as needed.
* Liaise with other agencies and negotiate to agree and monitor personal housing plans.
* Arrange temporary or permanent accommodation for customers facing homelessness.
* Provide timely advice on housing options across a wide spectrum of tenures.
* Apply housing and homelessness legislation and consider welfare reforms, rent arrears procedures, and private sector issues.
* Manage a large and complex workload and participate in a 24-hour out-of-hours rota.
* Use a car as required and support a hybrid working model (office, home, and remote working where suitable).
Qualifications and Experience
* Working knowledge of housing/homelessness legislation and welfare benefit reforms.
* Proven experience conducting interviews in stressful situations and strong negotiating skills.
* Ability to handle a large and complex workload.
Requirements
* Valid driving presence (use of a car) and willingness to participate in a 24-hour rota.
Working Arrangements
We operate a hybrid working model with a mix of office-based, home, and remote working when suitable. The contractual base is office-based with flexibility to work from home or at remote locations in the borough.
