Accounts Assistant – Excellent Career Progression Opportunity
My client are looking for a proactive, detail-focused Accounts Assistant to join their supportive and well-established finance team. This is a varied role where you’ll handle day-to-day transactional accounting, maintain accurate financial records and help keep the finance function running smoothly.
There is also genuine scope to develop into Assistant Management Accountant responsibilities — an ideal step for someone who wants to grow professionally and strengthen their management accounts experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Posting daily direct credits and reconciling the sales ledger
* Reviewing weekly payments and requesting payment from non-notified debtors
* Managing PDQ transactions and journals
* Taking and reconciling credit card payments
* Managing invoice runs, issuing invoices and chasing outstanding payments
* Sending weekly price updates
* Logging expense receipts for quarterly reclaim
* Managing the purchase ledger and supporting credit control
* Reconciling supplier statements and obtaining approvals
* Processing month-end and urgent mid-month payments
* Resolving invoice queries and issuing credits
* Setting up new customer accounts and issuing monthly statements
* Managing the accounts inbox and allocating queries
* Maintaining bank reconciliations and monitoring incoming/outgoing payments
Assistant Management Accountant Development
For candidates with existing experience — or those eager to progress — the role can also include:
* Managing accruals, prepayments and preparing month-end accounts up to trial balance
* Preparing and submitting VAT returns
* Overseeing payroll processing
* Producing management accounts
* Maintaining control accounts and completing balance sheet reconciliations
* Analysing variances and financial trends
* Assisting with budgeting and forecasting
* Supporting the production of internal financial reports
* Helping improve financial processes and efficiencies
* Supporting the Finance Manager with ad-hoc projects
