Specialist Cardiac Physiologist, Band 6 or Trainee Cardiac Physiologist, Band 5
This post is an exciting opportunity for either a Specialist Cardiac Physiologist or a Trainee Cardiac Physiologist to join the Tayside team based at Ninewells Hospital and Perth Royal Infirmary. Tayside is a beautiful area situated on the east coast of Scotland and is close to the other major Scottish cities of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen. It is a fantastic area to live and work. Integrated into the Ninewells Hospital site is the University of Dundee which has an international reputation for excellence in teaching and research.
Our busy Cardiology departments are staffed by a friendly and committed team, who provide a comprehensive range of invasive and non‑invasive cardiology investigations. These include Coronary Angiography, Primary PCI using up‑to‑date techniques, ICD, CRT‑D, Pacemaker implantation and follow‑up, a Physiologist‑led injectable loop implantation service, Echocardiography including TTE & TOE, Physiologist‑led stress testing including RACP and Chest Pain Clinics and a variety of ambulatory monitoring techniques, as well as a routine ECG service.
The successful Band 6 candidate will be expected to work in all areas and therefore be appropriately qualified and experienced. If you are not experienced in all of these areas, further opportunities to develop your skills within specialist areas such as echocardiography or cardiac rhythm management will be given.
Applications for this post are invited from physiologists who possess a BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent qualification. The applicant must hold AHCS registration or equivalent. A current qualification in Immediate Life Support (ILS) is desirable but not essential.
Applications are also invited from post‑graduate Life Sciences students to apply for a trainee post, Band 5, as a Healthcare Science Practitioner by completing the Practitioner Trainee Programme (PTP) in Cardiac Science. Trainees will be working through academic study, practical skills and assessments to gain equivalence registration through the Academy for Healthcare Science, to become a Specialist Cardiac Physiologist, Band 6.
Candidates must have an equivalent honours degree for entry into this programme and completed a dissertation as part of their existing degree.
The Equivalent Degree Requirements Are:
* Physiology / Anatomy & Physiology
* Sports Medicine (Evidence of anatomy and physiology studies required)
* Biomedical Science (Evidence of anatomy and physiology studies required)
Candidates must evidence their ability to study and learn practical skills in performing cardiac investigations through structured learning and accreditation. They will demonstrate sound knowledge in the role of Cardiac Physiology and demonstrate their commitment in gaining the knowledge and skills to become an independent practitioner. Clinical experience is desirable but not essential.
