The Role

The successful candidate will be a specialist in and deliver a wide range of project management to support services and projects which are a part of the Public Health Directorate of NHS Lanarkshire.


The post holder will support the development, implementation and evaluation of a range of strategies and initiatives to ensure the delivery of programmes aligned with the Population Health Framework and Public Health Priorities. They will effectively manage work across a range of delegated work streams, subgroups and projects, providing project management, collaboration, coordination, service improvement, leadership and support.


This includes using project management methodology to deliver discrete and/or linked projects, ensuring achievement of set outcomes within agreed timescales and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.


The post holder will provide project management support to the Director of Public Health and Consultants in Public Health/ Medicine and the in the delivery of key areas of work including but not limited to:


* Strategic Public Health priorities aligned with the Population Health Framework
* Support for operational management responsibilities (maternity cover for operational services manager)
* Any other relevant work

What we'll need you to bring

Education

* Educated to degree level or equivalent
* Management or Project Management qualification e.g. PRINCE 2 or equivalent relevant experience

Skills and Knowledge

* Experience of working within the NHS
* Proven track record of successfully managing diverse projects, through significant experience and evidence
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Experience in dealing directly with stakeholders and customers.
* Up to date awareness of Once for Scotland and other relevant policies
* Effective project and action planning skills
* Ability to manage and prioritise own workload and that of others
* Sound and creative problem solving ability
* Excellent communication skills; Oral, written and presentational skills
* Experienced negotiator/facilitator with the ability to influence others.
* Understanding of Data Protection and IT security principles.
* Ability to manage and understand financial information
* Highly motivated, assertive and confident, with drive and enthusiasm
* Highly IT literate
* Strong Leadership and team working skills

Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.



It would be great if you also have

* Masters in Public Health or equivalent development.
* Evidence of on-going professional development
* Practical experience of project/programme management and the management of change
* Experience in an improvement role supporting change
* Experience working in public health, health improvement or population screening programmes
* Evidence and experience of leading and or facilitating improvement programmes within public health systems.
* Knowledge and understanding of public health, health improvement or population screening programmes
* Leadership and team working skills
* Project management skills
* Training, facilitation and group work skills
* Highly developed written, numeric and verbal presentation skills
* Analytical and critical appraisal skills
* Evaluation, research and audit knowledge and skills

* 37 hours



Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in Public Health Directorate within Kirklands - NHSL Headquarters.


The working pattern for this role is Monday-Friday, 9am - 5pm.
