Summary
As Assistant Gardener, you’ll be working with a team to deliver the day‑to‑day care of the garden and maintain high presentation standards. This role will include a range of practical tasks to develop, improve and look after the garden and contribute to the delivery of projects. Salary: £25,837.50 per annum. Contract Duration: Fixed term until 30 June 2028. Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8 am to 4:40 pm, with weekend working on a rota basis during the winter. The role requires working with vulnerable groups including children and any offer of employment is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check. For this role you’ll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a CV or online application form.
What you’ll be doing
Daily responsibilities may include:
* Assisting with the planting and maintaining of shrubs and borders
* Mulching
* Hedge cutting
* Lawn mowing
* Supporting the team across the site, carrying out tasks such as grass cutting, strimming, leaf clearance, hedge cutting and tree work
You’ll work alongside gardeners and volunteers, talking to the public every day, answering a variety of garden‑related questions and sharing your work with pride. The role can be physically challenging; machinery such as tractors, hedge trimmers and pedestrian mowers will be used with training provided.
