Assistant Accountant 6 Month FTC Plymouth, Devon £35,000 - £45,000 per annum Our client based in Plymouth, is seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to provide vital interim support during a period of change on a full-time, 6-month fixed term contract. There will be the opportunity for this to turn into a permanent position for the right candidate. As the Assistant Accountant, you'll help maintain smooth day-to-day finance operations and play an active part in documenting key processes for the future. This hands-on role offers a mix of operational and process-focused work, including a mix of payroll, invoicing, and month-end activities. The responsibilities: Perform general bookkeeping duties, including posting journal entries for revenue, expenses, and accruals Support maintenance of the Profit & Loss statement and Balance Sheet; exposure to cash flow statements is a plus Assist with monthly close processes and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting Maintain organised financial records and documentation Document accounting processes and workflows while being trained The candidate: Working knowledge of general bookkeeping and accounting fundamentals Prior experience supporting a full P&L and Balance Sheet required; cash flow experience preferred but not required Strong organisational skills with attention to detail Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and adapt quickly in a transitional environment This is an excellent interim opportunity for an experienced finance professional who enjoys variety and wants to make a tangible impact.
