The Roses of Elagabalus is a LGBTQ+bar, cabaret, and restaurant in Dalston with a late night licence. After a successful first year we are looking for a general manager to join the team and our next step as a business.
A night at The Roses starts with a perfectly executed classic cocktail in our bar, followed by dinner and a show in our Cabaret room, and finishes with a dance in our micro club in the basement.
Over the past year we have established ourselves as a chic, high end venue on the Kingsland Road, and are the only cocktail forward LGBTQ+ bar and restaurant in the city.
Added to day to day management of the bar, working at the Roses will involve collaborating with a wide roster of residency chefs, performers, and Dj's making it a uniquely engaging and fast paced job for anyone interested in the food and beverage or entertainment and nightlife industries.
The Roses aspires to be one of the top hospitality venues in East London, providing a members club style of service to your local LGBTQ+ venue.
The job will involve:
Day to day management of a team of 12; Leading staff meetings, nurturing team morale, creating a sense of calm and maintain a cool head under pressure.
Identifying areas which need improvement in the long term; streamlining and coordinating trainings and development amongst the team.
Fostering excellent customer experience and service standards.
Event management, liasing with chefs, performers, and DJs
Reservation management and private hires,
Acting as the on-site lead for Health and Safety and licensing procedures, ensuring daily standards are met (including liaising with security on weekends)
support the ongoing development of service systems, staff training and operations.
Operational responsibilities (Rota, Stock controls, repairs)
Report to directors weekly and run the day-to-day operation with confidence and autonomy.
To Succeed at this Role you will need:
Experience in management in a restaurant or high end cocktail bar. The roses
Interest and confidence in food, drinks and hospitality.
A hands on attitude towards management focusing on training and motivating a diverse team, leading by example and ability to manage multiple spaces at once (a bar, a restaurant, and towards the end of the night a club)
A proactive and creative approach to finding operational solutions in the context of a new business.
The appropriate H&S qualifications (including food hygiene)
Knowledge and experience in costings calculations and cost analysis for bars and restaurants of our size.
Foster commitment to inclusive, LGBTQ+ positive hospitality and leading diverse teams.
