The post-holder will act as the Lead BMS for the direct delivery of the operational service of all areas of the Cellular Pathology department. This includes the communication of discipline specific expert technical advice to clinicians, laboratory staff, service users and external agencies.
The post holder will along with other senior staff, be Quality Lead, responsible for the maintenance of Quality in line with UKAS standards.
The post holder will allocate staff duties and lead BMS training and development.
The post holder will ensure that safe working procedures are adopted.
The post-holder will be expected to cover in the absence of other Lead BMS in Cellular Pathology
The post-holder will deputise for the Pathology Network Professional lead

Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
1. MSc or equivalent postgraduate qualification in Biomedical Science
2. Evidence of higher specialist training in Cellular pathologygained through short courses or distance learning or equivalent experience.
3. Recognised management qualification at certificate or diploma level or equivalent experience.
4. Evidence of commitment to CPD
5. State registered BMS with HCPC
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
6. Up to date knowledge and extensive experience of Cellular Pathology
7. Substantial experience of supervising/ managing a team
8. Evidence to support programme of personal and professional development.
9. Experience of information technology
10. Experience of highly specialised, complex analytical techniques
11. Evidence of procurement of specialised Cellular pathology equipment
12. HR experience relating to recruitment and appraisals
Desirable criteria
13. Experience/involvement in committees or external organisations
