31st March, 2026 LEAD INFORMATION Job Title: Civil Engineer - Water / Drainage - Site location: Plymouth, Devon - Responsible to: Senior Civil Engineer / Associate Director - Purpose of the role: To deliver drainage and water infrastructure design solutions for development projects including drainage strategies, flood risk assessments and sustainable drainage systems. Client brief: Our client is a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy seeking a Civil Engineer with experience in drainage and water infrastructure to support a growing project workload. KEY INFORMATION Reason for vacancy: Expansion of civil engineering team - Contract: Permanent - Salary: £35,000 - £50,000 depending on experience - Shifts: Monday - Friday standard office hours with hybrid working - Holidays: Competitive annual leave plus bank holidays - Facilities: Professional engineering consultancy environment with development and training opportunities RESPONSIBILITIES The role Design surface water and foul water drainage systems - Prepare Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategy Reports - Deliver drainage designs suitable for S104 adoption - Undertake hydraulic modelling using drainage software - Produce drawings using AutoCAD or Civils 3D - Support planning applications and technical approvals - Liaise with water authorities, clients and planning teams - Assist with multidisciplinary project delivery Key Skills Required Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline - Experience in drainage and water infrastructure design - Knowledge of SuDS and UK drainage standards - Experience with MicroDrainage / InfoDrainage desirable - Strong analytical and communication skills Serply Recruitment Ltd acts as an employment business for temporary positions and an employment agency for permanent positions.
