We are seeking a motivated individual who has an interest in accountancy. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience and develop essential skills in the field of accountancy while working towards a recognised qualification. The role will primarily cover sales ledger but will also give exposure to other accounts administration related duties such as posting supplier transactions, maintaining project records, and monitoring spend against budgets.
RAND Europe consists of 4 entities across the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands. The finance function supports all entities, giving you exposure to different types of international activities.
Studies will be delivered online, and at the end of the apprenticeship you will have gained the Level 2 AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting and the Level 2 Finance Accounts Assistant Apprenticeship. For the right candidate, there would be opportunities to progress to Level 3 and/or a permanent contract.
Key responsibilities:
* Setting up new firms in the finance system and maintaining accounts receivable records and data
* Reviewing contracts and grants to identify the invoicing and payment schedules and subsequently generating and sending out client invoices in line with what was agreed
* Processing client payments on the finance system (Vantagepoint), and updating the weekly cash forecast for client receipts
* Performing regular client account reconciliations, monitoring for non-payment and delayed payments, and resolving differences as required
* Supporting the Finance, Legal & Project Support Office teams by providing regular updates and highlighting potential project/client risks
* Assisting with month end activities, such as running trial balance reports, performing bank reconciliations, and posting required journals
* Assisting the finance team with other ad-hoc finance tasks as required
Requirements
Qualifications:
* GCSE Maths and English A* - B/5 – 9
* GCSE or A Level in Accounting, Business Studies, Economics or Statistics (preferable but not essential)
Skills and experience:
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
* Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage their own time and workload effectively
* Ability to work as part of a team and to support others
* Good attention to detail
* A self-starter with a positive, “can do” attitude
