INTERNAL ONLY (DCC Employees Only)
Senior Public Health Practitioner – Children, Young People and Sexual Health
Location: Public Health (Exeter, Devon)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Public Health Practitioner to join our Children, Young People and Sexual Health team within Public Health Devon.
In this role, you will apply public health principles and provide strategic leadership across the children, young people, and sexual health agenda.
Your work will focus on prevention and early intervention for children, young people, and families, as well as sexual health, contraception, and women’s health.
You will build strong partnerships with commissioners and service providers across the reproductive and sexual health system—promoting health and wellbeing, preventing ill-health, and addressing reproductive and sexual health inequalities.
This role requires a combination of public health skills and experience, alongside creativity, innovation, and the ability to think outside the box to solve complex problems within complex systems. Compassion and empathy are essential for this role, as those who are the most discriminated against, judged, minoritised, and who experience intersectional prejudice are most likely to experience health inequalities.
The role aligns with the Council’s strategic priorities:
1. Positive futures for young people
2. Continuous improvement of services
3. Stronger communities and safer spaces
This is a full-time position, advertised internally as a development opportunity for existing staff with relevant qualifications and experience / or transferable experience.
Part-time and job share arrangements will be considered.
To support all candidates and ensure fairness, interview questions will be provided in advance.
Closing Date: Monday 8th December, 5:00 PM
Interview Date: Monday 15th December
