Full Time, Permanent

The University of Reading School of Law wishes to appoint a further outstanding lecturer in Shipping Law to further enhance our academic faculty. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic community with a global outlook and a focus on academic excellence. The successful applicant will take an appropriate role in the ambitious teaching and learning agenda of the School of Law, as well as the wider aspects of the student experience. Successful candidates will conduct research which enhances the research reputation of the School.


Responsibilities

* Take an appropriate role in the teaching and learning agenda of the School of Law.
* Contribute to the student experience and academic life of the Law School.
* Conduct research to enhance the School’s research reputation.
* Engage in curriculum development and contribute to student experience initiatives.


Qualifications

* A relevant degree;
* A PhD (completed or very near to completion);
* A record of research outputs appropriate to stage of career;
* Specialist research subject knowledge in Shipping Law;
* Effective pedagogical and academic skills in teaching and tutoring;
* An ability to teach UG & PG students in Shipping Law modules;
* An ability to teach at least one UG core module;
* An ability to conduct high quality (4* and 3* REF) research;
* Appropriate interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
* The ability to work effectively and flexibly in a team, including working to deadlines and maintenance of appropriate documentation;
* Effective administration skills;
* Ability to lead curriculum development and/or student experience initiatives;
* Experience of teaching law (or an equivalent discipline) at University level;
* Experience of academic administration or wider contributions to academic life;
* Experience of pastoral role;
* A well developed 5 year research plan;
* A willingness to play a significant role in the everyday life of the Law School.
