NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) role summary

The role
The postholder provides a clerical and administrative service within Adult Mental Health Inpatient Services at Leverndale Hospital, supporting clinical staff and ensuring smooth ward operations.
Visa sponsorship
Band 2 roles are not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa routes. All other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
* Full‑time, Permanent
* Location: Leverndale Hospital, Adult Mental Health Inpatient Services, Glasgow
* Work pattern: TBC with Senior Charge Nurse
Key responsibilities
* Maintain patient records – Ensure manual records are available for all admissions and attendances
* Update administration systems – Keep computerised and manual systems accurate for admissions, transfers and discharges
* Provide clerical support – Assist clinical staff with administrative tasks required for effective patient care
* Housekeeping duties – Support general ward organisation
* Refreshment access – Ensure refreshments are available during visiting times
* Maintain stock levels – Monitor and replenish ward supplies
* Cross‑cover duties – Provide cover, including Reception desk duties
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job
* Ability to manage clerical tasks within guidelines
* Understanding of patient administration processes (manual and computerised)
* Awareness of ward procedures, stock management, and basic housekeeping expectations
* Good organisational and communication skills
* Keyboard skills
* Proficient use of the patient administration system
