Position
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a
Head of PMO Analytics & Modelling
within our Directorate of Transformation & Sustainability based at Ailsa Hospital, however, we have adopted a distributed working approach dependent on service need. This post is offered on a
permanent basis.
Hours
37
hours per week.
From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

What You Will Do
Job Purpose
: To lead the Board's Modelling & Analytics function within the Programme Management Office (PMO), providing high‑quality operational, and strategic modelling; advanced analytics; and insight to plan, govern and assure delivery of the efficiency and transformation portfolio.

Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required For This Post
* Masters degree in a numerate/analytical discipline (e.g., statistics, mathematics, engineering, economics, data science) or equivalent experience.
* Advanced specialist knowledge of analytical/modelling techniques (e.g., forecasting, simulation, optimisation, regression/GLM, queueing/flow), with a strong record of applying them to complex operational/strategic problems.
* Demonstrable leadership of an analytics/modelling function, including staff management, quality assurance and stakeholder influence at senior level.
* Mastery of data manipulation and analysis tools (SQL, R/Python, Excel advanced), and experience of enterprise BI/visualisation (e.g., Power BI/Tableau).
* Proven ability to design and deliver insightful portfolio reporting, benefits measurement and decision‑ready outputs for Direcor Sponsors and Board governance.
* Excellent communication and influencing skills, able to explain uncertainty and trade‑offs clearly and credibly.
* Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the statutory framework and guidance for the NHS, and the Integration of Health and Social Care, including practical application of these together with the policy and planning framework nationally, regionally and locally.
* Recent experience of working in the NHS, other public sector or relevant organisations within a relevant role associated with strategic service planning and development.
* Ability and demonstrable experience in the drafting and presentation of papers, reports and related correspondence for the NHS Board, associated Governance groups, Directors and senior managers.
* Significant experience of working directly with Directors, Non-Executive Directors and senior managers.
* Developed awareness of the political sensitivity of information and ability, and mental agility, to work through issues and think at both a strategic and operational level.
