The role
As a Stakeholder Engagement Manager, you will help shape how our £22bn investment programme delivers for people and places by planning and delivering meaningful engagement. You will bring stakeholders into the heart of our decision making, build trusted relationships and create partnerships that maximise local benefits and support net zero. You will work with cross-disciplinary teams to coordinate and standardise engagement across our projects, so every stakeholder has a clear, consistent and high quality engagement experience.
You will
* Build and maintain cross‑functional engagement plans that set activities, channels and timelines; track feedback; develop and embed standard templates and tools for consistency; maintain accurate records.
* Map and profile stakeholders for projects and business priorities; keep interest, influence and impact assessments current so needs and expectations are understood and considered.
* Work with community liaison, corporate affairs, communications, local authority engagement and other key teams to standardise delivery and engagement governance aligned to project portfolio standards and timelines.
* Support teams and senior leaders to coordinate, plan and deliver multi‑channel engagement; facilitate internal meetings and input as the stakeholder engagement subject matter expert, identifying risks and mitigations.
* Advocate the benefits of SSEN Transmission’s £22bn investment programme with stakeholders; grow and support strategic partnerships to maximise legacy and social value impacts; communicate opportunities clearly.
You have
* Well established experience applying stakeholder engagement methods and tools to deliver effective, comprehensive plans; advantageous experience includes large infrastructure programmes, standardising engagement or implementing communications and engagement governance at scale.
* Understanding of Energy Networks and SSEN Transmission’s role in meeting clean power targets supported by a degree in a relevant field such as Public Policy, Town and Country Planning, Environmental Management, Social Research, Communications, Project or Programme Management, Strategy, Business or Engineering Management (or equivalent experience).
* Strong organisation and communication skills, written and verbal; able to convey complex information succinctly and tailor it to stakeholder needs; confident influencing internal and external stakeholders.
* Self‑motivation, resilience, and flexibility; a proactive problem solver who considers the bigger picture and long‑term goals when recommending solutions.
* Proficiency in Microsoft 365 is essential; knowledge of Tractivity or AccountAbility’s AA1000 Stakeholder Engagement Standard is an advantage.
