Overview
The A350 Chief Engineer's Team is looking for a great intern to join our friendly, self-motivated team. In the UK we look after the A350 Wing, Landing Gear, Fuel, and Inerting systems design and development. We are primarily accountable for the airworthiness and safety of all these areas. We lead aircraft development projects by specifying technical requirements, managing engineering teams to deliver "best for aircraft" solutions and solving problems. We also actively support aircraft being assembled and those operating in-service - you will be working with us as a full member of the team.
What you will be doing
Success in this role will be largely down to you, but typically you will be:
* Working with the Chief Engineering team on product evolution of the A350 family by defining aircraft technologies and requirements, attending regular team meetings, and contributing to product development ideas and projects. This will include problem solving for in-service aircraft topics and aircraft production matters;
* You will also liaise with teams like Engineering, Safety & Procurement to deliver integrated solutions;
* Improving the teams' processes via internal projects;
* Developing yourself - enhancing your confidence, leadership, communication skills, technical capability and team working;
* You will gain a top level appreciation of aircraft development and an understanding of the decision making processes involved in complex aerospace industry projects;
* You will have flexibility and ownership on tasks across a range of disciplines through the support of the Fuel Systems, Wing Structure, and Landing Gear Chief Engineers;
* You will work with a highly experienced team who will both pass on knowledge to you and will expect to listen and learn from your contributions.
Qualifications
* Studying towards a relevant Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent;
* Excellent written and spoken English with the ability to summarise complex issues and communicate clearly, both in verbal and written forms as well as in front of audiences;
* Comfortable to ask questions and comfortable to share their opinions and make proposals in a group setting;
* An understanding of project management with the ability to prioritise tasks to ensure deadlines are met;
* An empathetic person capable of building relationships, self-reflecting and listening;
* Comfortable with taking the initiative and working with an open scope;
* Prepared and able to travel between European sites, if required.
Security and compliance
You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. You may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role. This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company's success, reputation and sustainable growth.
