Full-time Ward Clerk (flexible working would be considered)

To provide a high-quality efficient administration and clerical service to the renal outpatients, staff, visitors and patients.

The post holder will provide a reception service, acting as a first point of contact on the telephone or face to face for patients, visitors and other healthcare professionals supporting the efficient processing of information and communication as required and ensure that clinical correspondence is accurately transcribed, within agreed timescales, in line with Trust Policy

The post holder will be expected to facilitate good communication with other wards and departments involved in patient care or unit functioning, in particular with Ward 4, our dialysis unit at James Cook University Hospital (JCUH), Friarage Hospital Northallerton (FHN) and the satellite centres across Teesside as well as with the North East Ambulance Service and Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

The post holder will input data regarding all day unit admissions, transfers and discharges, and support the registered professionals with any administration support required on the day unit.

Main duties of the job

Reporting to the Renal Outpatient Department Manager with input from other registered professionals, the post holder will assist in the provision of high standard care by providing a high-quality efficient administration and clerical service to unit staff, visitors and patients.

The post holder will provide a reception service, acting as a first point of contact on the telephone or face to face, for patients, visitors and other healthcare professionals facilitating effective communication. The role will also input data regarding all admissions, transfers and discharges. To work in a collaborative and co-operative manner and to recognise and respect their particular contribution within the care team

The post holder will be a team player and will actively contribute to continuous service improvement activities, including the maintenance and improvement of quality to ensure that services are delivered with customer focus. The post holder will be a desk based role, will need to have significant computer skills to carry out their day-to-day roles and responsibilities as well as excellent customer/patient care skills.

Participate in all activities necessary to ensure accurate recording of activity to ensure income is recouped
