Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) – London – Fantastic Fertility Clinic – Up to £50,000 - Full time
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) to join an incredible Fertility Clinic located in London. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a specialized fertility clinic, providing exceptional patient care for fertility-related procedures, such as egg collection and embryo transfers. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of patients during their journey to parenthood.
Operating Department Practitioner Key Responsibilities
Anaesthetics:
* Assist the Anaesthetist in preparing, monitoring, and maintaining anaesthetic equipment.
* Provide patient care during induction, maintenance, and emergence from anaesthesia.
* Ensure adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control standards.
* Conduct pre-operative checks, including confirming patient identity and consent.
* Administer medications and fluids under the guidance of the Anaesthetist.
Recovery:
* Monitor patients’ vital signs post-procedure, ensuring a safe recovery from anaesthesia.
* Provide immediate care in emergency situations, including airway management and resuscitation.
* Assess patients for discharge readiness, collaborating with nursing staff and physicians.
* Offer emotional support and reassurance to patients recovering from procedures.
General Duties:
* Maintain accurate documentation of patient care and clinical interventions.
* Participate in patient care planning, liaising with other healthcare professionals as needed.
* Ensure all equipment is cleaned, maintained, and restocked according to clinic policies.
* Adhere to relevant legislation, guidelines, and clinic protocols, ensuring compliance with CQC standards.
* Contribute to team meetings, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) Essential Requirements
* Registered ODP with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council).
* Demonstrated experience in anaesthetics and recovery, preferably in a surgical or fertility-related setting.
* Knowledge of anaesthetic and recovery protocols, including airway management and emergency care.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively support patients and collaborate with team members.
* Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
Desirable Requirements
* Experience in women’s health, fertility, or day surgery settings.
* Additional training or certification in advanced life support (ALS) or equivalent.
* Familiarity with ultrasound-guided procedures and fertility-related medical equipment.
