Head Chef – Care Home (21 Residents) – Norwich (Golden Triangle)
£14.50 per hour (negotiable DOE) | 24.5 hours per week | 7am–2.30pm
We are looking for an exceptional Head Chef to lead our kitchen team in a small, friendly and welcoming Care Home for 21 residents, based in the beautiful Golden Triangle area of Norwich.
This is a hugely rewarding role for someone who genuinely enjoys cooking wholesome, home-cooked food and wants to make a real difference to people's daily lives.
You'll be working 7am–2.30pm, preparing nutritious, appetising meals using the Care Home's Aga, and helping maintain the high standards we are proud of.
Hours & Working Pattern
* 7am–2.30pm (30 min unpaid break)
* 21 or 28 paid hours per week (24.5 average)
* 3 or 4 shifts per week (alternate weeks)
* Working alternate weekends
Pay
* £14.50 per hour (negotiable depending on experience)
Key Responsibilities
As Head Chef, you will:
* Prepare, cook and serve high-quality meals that are appetising, nutritious and centred on resident preferences
* Cater for special dietary needs and allergens
* Lead the kitchen team with a positive, supportive and hands-on approach
* Ensure compliance with all statutory and legal requirements, including:
* HACCP
* Health & Safety
* COSHH
* Food Safety & Food Hygiene
* Infection Prevention & Control
* Maintain kitchen cleaning schedules and ensure the kitchen is kept immaculately clean
* Oversee ordering, receiving and stock control using approved suppliers
* Complete monthly stock takes and minimise food waste
* Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of kitchen equipment, reporting faults to the Manager
* Take part in team meetings and attend resident/relative meetings to gather feedback on food satisfaction
* Organise themed food events and activities for residents
