Job Description:
AFC Wimbledon Women are looking to recruit a hard-working, self-motivated and knowledgable individual, who is looking to enter the progressive world of women’s football at Tier 3, working with elite female footballers.
Chartered Physiotherapists, Sports Therapists or Sports Rehabilitator to join the Medical department. The role of the Medical Therapist is fundamental to the long-term vision of AFC Wimbledon Women.
The successful candidate will work within a Tier 3 women’s football club and fulfil the requirements to cover the physiotherapy and rehabilitation provision for all the women’s players from the 1st team and occasionally be involved with the pathway players.
Candidates must be ready to work a variety of hours, including weekend games and one or two midweek sessions, along with occasional overnight stays. For proactive people who have a strong desire to work in football, this is a fantastic chance. Along with opportunities to participate in internal CPD, you will need to stay current on current literature, comprehend the scope of practice, and work to improve your practical abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide emergency first aid cover during trainings and match days
- Clinical assessment of injured players prior to games
- Keep detailed and accurate records of injuries and treatments and upload them to our platform
- Constant communication with coaches, strength and conditioning team and players regarding injury and availability
- Attend and participate in in-house CPD sessions
- Support the development of junior therapists within the women’s pathway
- Ensure compliance with all club policies including health and safety, equality, safeguarding and confidentiality
- BSc degree in Physiotherapy/Sports Therapy/Sports Rehabilitation
- HCPC/BASRat/SST registration
- In-date EMFAif qualification (and commitment to year reaccreditation)
- Willingness to learn and work with high-level athletes including injury management and rehabilitation planning
- Medical insurance suitable for treating semi-professional women’s footballers
- The ability to play/participate in football at a high level
- MSc Physiotherapy/Sports Therapy/Sports Rehabilitation
