Here's what's different: They're not looking for someone to just follow orders. This is proper engineering work where your welding expertise actually shapes how industrial systems get built. No micromanagement, no corporate nonsense - just skilled fabrication work that matters.
The Reality: You'll be doing mechanical pipework welding and installation across industrial process plants and filling/packing machinery. Mix of stainless and mild steel work, mainly TIG welding but other techniques too. It's hands-on fabrication where you read technical drawings, solve problems, and build systems that actually work. Based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk with occasional travel.
What's on Offer: £19-22.50/hour (skill dependent), 40 hours guaranteed, overtime at 1.5x and 2x rates, 25 days holiday, company pension. Interestingly Overtime is paid as soon as you hit 40 hours a week, so if you hit them early in the week, the rest of the week is paid as overtime!
You'll love this if you: Have 5+ years TIG welding experience, can read technical drawings without hand-holding, know your way around both hand and power tools, and actually enjoy problem-solving rather than just following instructions. Need at least ONC/NVQ level and happy with 25% travel.
