Your role:
In the next 12 months, you will:
1. Support the coordination of the launch and ballot of UK Youth Parliament Make Your Mark in Wigan in February 2025 as part of UK Parliament Week.
2. Support the coordination of the MYP elections and support young people with their campaigns.
3. Support the senior youth and community voice lead to develop new opportunities and partnerships in relation to voice and participation work locally, regionally, and nationally.
4. Seek, develop, and maintain new and existing networks for practitioners, ensure they are effectively delivered and evaluated, and build relationships.
5. Ensure effective communication to members and wider networks is in place and sustained.
6. Develop networks to promote and share good practices for the benefit of partners across the borough.
7. Provide advice and support to all partners on young people’s engagement.
8. Support the Progress with Unity principles and missions, ensuring they are embedded with schools, local communities, and voluntary sector organizations.
9. Ensure a personalized and asset-based approach that promotes health and wellbeing, giving children and young people opportunities and encouragement to get involved in activities that enhance their physical and emotional wellbeing, support their educational attainment, and facilitate their transition to employment.
About you:
* NVQ Level 3 in a relevant area of work or equivalent experience, e.g., Youth Work, Youth Justice.
* Experience working with young people who offend or indulge in risk-taking behaviors.
* Experience of both one-to-one support and supervision and group work with young people with challenging behavior.
* Working knowledge of safeguarding procedures and local multi-agency guidelines on child protection.
* The ability and desire to listen, understand, empathize, and be respectful. Be friendly, approachable, and trustworthy, with the confidence to challenge and be direct when needed.
* A basic understanding of the Youth Justice system and principles of restorative justice.
