Job Title: IT Build Engineer - Service Desk
Location: Hemel Hempstead
Salary: Up to £32,000 (depending on experience)
About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Build Engineer to join our growing Managed Service Provider (MSP) team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, building and configuring IT systems, and ensuring smooth deployment for a variety of clients.
You will be responsible for preparing, configuring, and deploying hardware and software solutions, working closely with internal teams to deliver high-quality IT services.
Key Responsibilities
* Build, configure, and deploy desktops, laptops, and servers to client specifications
* Install and configure operating systems, applications, and security tools
* Assist with imaging, patching, and system updates
* Prepare and test equipment prior to deployment
* Maintain accurate documentation of builds and configurations
* Troubleshoot build-related issues and support deployment processes
* Work closely with Service Desk and Project teams to meet delivery deadlines
* Ensure all builds meet company and client standards
Skills & Experience
* Previous experience in a Build Engineer, IT Technician, or similar role (ideally within an MSP environment)
* Strong knowledge of Windows OS (Windows 10/11, Windows Server)
* Experience with imaging tools (e.g., MDT, SCCM, or similar)
* Basic networking knowledge (IP addressing, DNS, DHCP)
* Familiarity with Microsoft 365 setup and configuration
* Good hardware knowledge (desktops, laptops, peripherals)
* Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable
* Experience working in an MSP environment
* Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, Intune)
* Relevant IT certifications (CompTIA, Microsoft, etc.)
