Overview
An exciting opportunity is available for a full time, permanent Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to work in the Community Children and Young People’s Service (CYPS) in the Northumberland team. You will provide specialist SALT assessment, intervention and recommendations for children and young people accessing these services. You will work as an integral member of the CYPS multidisciplinary team (MDT) and support the ongoing development of the SALT provision in the service. The post is based at St Georges Park Hospital, Morpeth, Northumberland, with travel to other sites across the Trust as required. Core hours are 8am–8pm, Monday to Saturday, with flexible working within this arrangement. We encourage flexible working and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
We welcome applicants with experience working with children and young people; however, this is not essential. It is essential that applicants are registered as a Speech and Language Therapist and have previous experience working within a mental health, learning disability or neurodevelopmental setting and/or team. The post holder should demonstrate the ability to engage and work collaboratively with others and partner agencies, and understand complex systems to support effective pathways.
We are part of Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (CNTW), which provides care, treatment and assessment for young people with complex needs across Northumberland. The multidisciplinary team includes consultant psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, psychotherapists, social workers, art therapists and support workers, all working to keep young people and their families at the center of care.
