SALARY: TMS/UPS HOURS: Full Time REQUIRED FOR: September 2026. This is chance to be part of the brand-new SEND Resource Base opening at West Bromwich Collegiate Academy supporting students with ASC. The facility will open in September 2026 in an Annex based at Shireland CBSO Academy whilst we wait for completion of the new state of the art building. West Bromwich Collegiate Academy is an oversubscribed Secondary School in the Black Country. The Academy opened its doors in September 2019 with 175 students and has continued to grow each year. It is now at full capacity with 805 students on roll. West Bromwich Collegiate Academy is committed to an inclusive education for all students at every ability and equipping students for the future through teaching them relevant and cutting-edge skills for the era in which they live. Most importantly we believe that every student should be safe, happy, ambitious for themselves and respectful of all. The Teacher of the ASC Resource Base will provide high‑quality, specialist teaching and pastoral support for pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) who are educated within the Academy’s specialist resource provision while remaining part of a mainstream secondary school community. We want to ensure that our pupils thrive here, developing socially, emotionally and academically. Whilst working closely with the SENDCo and the Trust Director of SEND you will have the opportunity to shape the strategic direction of the Resource Base and provide the very best educational experience for our young people. The post holder will be responsible for delivering a personalised, outcomes‑driven curriculum aligned to pupils’ EHCPs, supporting inclusion into mainstream lessons where appropriate, and ensuring pupils make strong academic, social and emotional progress. This role will develop into working across our trust to support development of other resource bases. We can offer: Opportunities across our MAT to enhance skills and experience. Key Responsibilities: Work with teaching assistants, the SENCO, learning mentors as appropriate Trust-wide working across our developing resource bases Create and review individual Support Plans for all students. Carry out annual review for all EHCP pupils with support of SENCo Support and upskilling teachers and teaching assistants in adaptive teaching methods including trust-wide CPD. To deliver the programmes of study from Asdan or a similar life skills program. To deliver a range of enrichment activities linked to EHCP outcomes and the wider curriculum. To teach small groups of SEN children with complex needs specifically focusing on EHCP outcomes To liaise with the wider school to ensure opportunities to integrate are provided. To communicate regularly with parents and carers and provide termly reviews of progress. Deliver intimate/personal or medical care where appropriate. To prepare, with support of senior leaders, risk assessments for pupils who require one. Candidates should be able to demonstrate: The successful candidate will: Have experience working and teaching in a specialist setting Have experience teaching across the key stages. Be a consistently good/outstanding teacher. Have a strong understanding of SEN needs and specifically ASC. Have a experience in managing and supporting the progress of pupil with complex communication and autism. Be an exceptional classroom practitioner with high expectations of both learning and behaviour. Able to inspire, motivate and enthuse pupils. Committed to raising standards for all and share the same drive to constantly learn and improve. Show willingness to lead initiatives and show evidence of impact. Demonstrate a passion to make a difference to others. To be proficient with the use of technology for learning and have a willingness to innovate.
