Role Overview
We are seeking experienced Field Engineers to join our Field Engineering Services team in Glasgow, supporting telecom infrastructure and utility network operations across Scotland. The Field Engineer will be responsible for installation, commissioning, and maintenance of telecom and utility equipment, ensuring service excellence, compliance, and safety at all times.
This is a 12-month contract role starting late November / early December, with multiple openings and opportunities for long-term engagement.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide first-line field support and routine maintenance within defined SLA targets.
* Carry out installation, commissioning, and testing of telecom network equipment including PDH, SDH, Microwave, DC Chargers, and IP Networks.
* Work on LAN/WAN and MPLS networks using Cisco and Alcatel products.
* Participate in the on-call rota (24x7) and support out-of-hours activities when required.
* Maintain accurate project documentation, update progress reports, and communicate effectively with the internal service team.
* Ensure strict adherence to Health & Safety, Quality, and Compliance standards on-site.
* Collaborate closely with project and operations teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
Experience & Qualification Requirements
* 3–5 years of hands-on Field Engineering experience in telecoms or utilities.
* Proven experience in installation, commissioning, and maintenance of PDH, SDH, Microwave, DC Chargers, and IP networks.
* Strong knowledge of Cisco and Alcatel equipment, LAN/WAN internetworking, and MPLS.
* Full UK Driving Licence (mandatory).
* Eligibility for SC clearance (confirmation pending).
* Desirable certifications: NRSWA, EUSR, IOSH, Emergency First Aid, DC/AC Competency.
* Scottish Power Work Authorization – training to be provided.
