Education Safeguarding Senior Officer
Birmingham City Council – Grade D – Salary £45,091 to £51,356. Fixed‑term contract until 31/03/2028. Working 36.5 hours a week. The role is hybrid with required occasional work from Council buildings.
Responsibilities
Provide operational oversight and ensure the effective delivery of safeguarding services within schools and other educational settings in the district.
Respond to safeguarding concerns, manage critical incidents, and safeguard children out of sight of education.
Support schools within the district operating model, produce and analyse data to identify trends, and contribute to statutory safeguarding processes.
Deliver school safeguarding improvement, manage escalated cases, and represent the Education Safeguarding team in multi‑agency audits and meetings.
Qualifications
Higher‑level qualification and significant management and leadership experience in services for children and families.
Thorough understanding of the safeguarding legislative framework.
Experience working with vulnerable children and families and a track record of making a difference for young people.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce reports, deliver presentations, and liaise with stakeholders.
