Role Overview
You will be contributing to the reduction of road traffic collisions and casualties across Somerset by investigating and analysing collision data to identify trends and causation. This work supports the development and delivery of evidence‑based investigation and prevention initiatives and helps shape internal policies including the Local Transport Plan and the Road Safety Strategy.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out detailed collision analysis at specific sites or across local highway networks.
* Visit collision sites to conduct conflict studies.
* Undertake supplementary analysis of highways and traffic speeds to build a full understanding of collision risk.
* Provide technical analysis, professional advice and practical recommendations.
* Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to improve highway safety outcomes.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience of analysing data and presenting findings in a clear, structured manner.
* Knowledge of road safety principles and prevention techniques.
* Understanding of collision data sources and interpretation methods.
* Experience producing written reports with the ability to communicate complex information to a range of audiences.
* Strong analytical, problem‑solving and organisational skills.
* HNC/HND in a relevant subject, or equivalent qualification or experience.
Contract & Working Hours
Permanent contract, 37 hours per week. This role offers hybrid working with flexible arrangements (subject to manager agreement) between County Hall Taunton office base and home.

Salary
Grade 13, ranging from £25,989 to £28,142 per annum.
