ABOUT THE ROLE
The Centre for Global Development in the Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences at Northumbria University is seeking a Post-Doctoral Fellow to conduct research on voluntary labour in humanitarian and development contexts.
The Fellow will contribute to a portfolio of projects as well as the development of new research and projects, as part of the Northumbria Peak of Research Excellence on Volunteering, Humanitarian Crises and Development. This includes contributing to and leading academic publications and outputs and resources for policy and practice audiences and working with a range of research partners and collaborators within and outside academia.
The role is fixed term and for 18 months.
Applicants should hold a PhD in human geography or related social science disciplines (e.g., development studies). We are particularly seeking applicants with expertise in voluntary and unpaid labour, but also welcome candidates with expertise in related areas such as labour geographies, youth geographies, climate change, civil society and activism, and humanitarian, peace and conflict research. Candidates with experience in qualitative and/or participatory methodologies, as well as combining quantitative and qualitative approaches, are encouraged to apply.
