Mechanical Estimator – Plumbing & Heating (Wet Side) Derby Salary: £55-60K Type: Full-time, Permanent An established and growing Mechanical (Plumbing & Heating) contractor based in Derby is looking to appoint a Mechanical Estimator with a strong focus on wet side services. This opportunity would suit an experienced estimator or an engineer ready to move into an estimating role within a supportive and technically strong team. Working on a range of commercial and industrial projects, this position plays a key role in the tendering and pre-construction process, supporting continued business growth across the region. The Role The Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders for mechanical building services projects, with a particular emphasis on wet systems. Key responsibilities include: * Preparing detailed cost estimates for plumbing and heating packages * Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documents * Carrying out take-offs and producing bills of quantities * Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations * Assessing project risks and value engineering opportunities * Working closely with project managers and directors during bid stages * Supporting handover from estimating to delivery teams What’s Required * Previous experience as a Mechanical Estimator or strong background in mechanical building services * Solid knowledge of wet side services including plumbing, heating, and associated plant * Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications * Strong numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail * Confident communicator, able to liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders * Proficient with estimating software and Microsoft Office packages What’s on Offer * £55-60K * Stable workload with a reputable regional contractor * Opportunity to work on varied and technically interesting projects * Supportive management team with long-term career progression * Permanent position with a growing business Interested?
