Role location: Tarmac Santon Asphalt Plant, Scunthorpe, with accessibility to nearby areas. This is a dynamic, inclusive environment where you will work with minimal supervision and contribute to plant maintenance, repairs and improvements to ensure maximum reliability of plant areas and support to the operation team.
Responsibilities
* Respond to plant breakdowns as needed, repair equipment efficiently to minimise downtime, and follow the maintenance plan safely and in compliance with statutory legislation and company Safety, Health & Environmental standards
* Continuously improve plant performance while maintaining safety, maintenance and asset reliability
* Utilise and maintain documents, policies, procedures and guidelines for safe and efficient maintenance within the Electrical Engineering department
* Attend service calls and reactive breakdowns to fault-find, diagnose and repair in a timely and cost-effective manner
* Carry out day-to-day responsive maintenance, service and repairs as instructed
* Make immediate decisions regarding repair requirements if the original job order does not reflect actual work; inform the relevant manager
* Ensure all works and repairs are completed safely and in accordance with current codes and practices
* When purchasing materials, seek best value and cost-effective approaches
Qualifications and Experience
* 18th Edition for Electrical Installations BS 7671
* Experience with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Continuous Improvement
* Working knowledge of electrical and control engineering maintenance principles
* Experience with Industrial Low Voltage power distribution systems
* Good understanding of PLCs and related software interrogation tools
* Knowledge of AC drives and motors; planning and predictive maintenance (PPM)
* Experience with a Computerised Maintenance Management System
* Experience with Root Cause Analysis, Failure Mode & Effect Analysis
* Ability to design simple electrical systems and translate drawings into practical use
* Ability to perform electrical statutory tests and inspections and use electrical test instruments safely
* Understanding of mechanical systems (hydraulics and pneumatics) and national/international codes and symbols
* Ability to build and maintain strong client and staff relationships; maintain high standards and follow quality control processes
* Proactive and flexible approach to work
* Testing & Inspection qualification (preferred)
* Level 3 Apprenticeship in Electrical or ONC/NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering preferred
This is a mobile role supporting multiple sites, including Scunthorpe and Hull. A company van is provided; candidates must possess a full UK driving licence and be willing to work at various sites in the area.
