Product Developer – Overview
We are partnering with an established apparel supplier to recruit a Product Developer to support the end-to-end development of customer-led collections. This role will involve working closely with both clients and internal teams to translate briefs into commercially viable, production-ready garments.
The position is ideal for someone with solid product development experience who is confident coordinating multiple stakeholders, managing technical documentation, and driving the sampling process through to approval.
Key Responsibilities
* Attend customer meetings alongside the Account Manager to capture detailed briefs and development requirements.
* Communicate directly with customers to obtain all necessary information for each collection.
* Collaborate with the Account Manager and Garment Technologist to define clear factory briefs for development.
* Build and maintain range plans in line with customer expectations and seasonal requirements.
* Prepare, update and refine technical packs, ensuring all specifications and details are accurate and complete.
* Use Adobe Illustrator to amend and enhance tech packs where required.
* Work closely with the Garment Technologist to develop and manage accurate size charts.
* Liaise with factories, fabric mills and trim suppliers to support the development of samples.
* Monitor progress against the critical path, working with the Account Manager to ensure timelines are maintained.
* Take ownership of sample reviews, assessing submissions alongside the Garment Technologist before presenting to senior stakeholders
* Produce development workbooks and communicate clear, structured feedback to suppliers at each stage.
* Coordinate with customers on fabric selections, components, and sample approvals
* Support the transition from development into production, maintaining close communication with suppliers and internal teams.
Skills & Experience
* 2–5 years' experience in a similar Product Development role within apparel
* Strong understanding of garment construction, sizing, and technical specifications
* Experience creating and managing detailed tech packs.
* Proficient in Adobe Illustrator for technical pack updates and amendments
* Proven ability to liaise with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
* Experience managing multiple developments and working to critical paths.
* Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
* Confident reviewing samples and providing clear, actionable feedback.
