THE ROLE
The British Business Bank's Investment Business is the largest investor in UK venture and venture growth capital funds, and alongside an expanding in-house capability we currently manage £6bn of total capital, with an additional £5.5 billion to be deployed across the next few years.
This is an opportunity to join us on the next stage of this exciting journey and to contribute to a key part of the national growth agenda.
In this role, you will have the ability to develop as a investment professional, with rotations across all areas of the Investment Business over a period of time. This includes both direct (equity) and indirect (e.g. Fund-of-Funds, Funds, FinTech platforms and Angel Syndicates) investment and portfolio management across a variety of asset classes (e.g. Venture Capital, Growth and Debt) and sectors, ultimately supporting UK SME businesses to both have better access to finance and help them fulfil their growth potential.
Educated to degree level or above, (or with equivalent work experience), in a numerical or analytical based subject quantitative field, preferably (or predicted to be) at a minimum of 2:1, you will be able to demonstrate an understanding of finance and macroeconomic principles and have experience in analysing datasets and summarising outputs or conclusions. Practical experience of using MS Office software is also essential. Ideally you will also be able to demonstrate an interest in technology, venture capital or debt.
During your initial induction period you will be required to attend the office a minimum of 3 days per week to benefit personally and professionally from being present in a collaborative working environment.
The starting date for this opportunity will be September 2026
