The Role As a Year 1 Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess lessons across all areas of the national curriculum. You will support pupils in developing literacy, numeracy, and wider skills, while encouraging independence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours. You will work closely with teaching assistants, Key Stage 1 colleagues, and senior leaders to maintain high standards and consistency across the year group. Effective communication with parents and carers is a key part of the role to support pupil progress and wellbeing. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging lessons across the Year 1 curriculum Track pupil progress and adapt teaching to meet individual needs Differentiate learning to support all pupils, including SEND and EAL learners Promote independence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours Maintain a structured and inclusive classroom environment Collaborate with teaching assistants and KS1 colleagues Communicate effectively with parents and carers Participate in staff meetings, CPD, and school initiatives The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Have experience teaching Key Stage 1, ideally Year 1 Be confident delivering literacy, numeracy, and foundation subjects Demonstrate excellent classroom management and organisational skills Be reflective, proactive, and adaptable Show a strong commitment to inclusion and safeguarding Work effectively as part of a collaborative team Early Career Teachers are encouraged to apply and will receive mentoring and structured support.
