Graduate Laboratory Technician

You'll support high-quality materials testing and reporting, working closely with production and engineering teams while gaining hands-on experience across a wide range of lab operations. If you're detail-oriented, enthusiastic about learning new techniques, and keen to grow within a specialist laboratory environment, this role offers a strong pathway for development
Key responsibilities:
1. Progress parts and samples through the laboratory and to sub-contractors, raising reports and certifications as required
2. Prepare metallographic samples including sectioning, mounting, grinding, polishing, and etching
3. Conduct macrostructure assessments and reporting for production, validation, and investigation purposes
4. Perform metallurgical assessment of surface degradation and HIP closure samples
5. Review and manage thermal processing documentation
6. Maintain accurate specimen records, documentation, and laboratory logs
7. Monitor stock levels, order supplies, and manage lab inventory efficiently
8. Operate and maintain lab heat treatment furnaces, ensuring timely processing of samples
9. Uphold and improve Lab 6S standards and general lab housekeeping
10. Maintain laboratory equipment and prepare new SOPs and PTIs as required
This is what you'll need:
11. Educated to HND or degree level in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or equivalent hands-on laboratory experience
12. Proficient in Microsoft Office tools for reporting and documentation
13. Excellent communication skills with strong time management and organisational abilities
14. Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team
