The Opportunity
We are seeking ameticulous and forward-thinking Chief Engineerto support the Director of Engineering in overseeing the integrity, safety, and efficiency of our iconic property. This is a pivotal role for a technically skilled professional with a passion for excellence and a deep understanding of luxury hospitality standards. You will help lead the daily operations of the engineering department, manage preventative maintenance programs, and ensure the seamless functioning of all building systems. With a proactive mindset and a commitment to precision, you will safeguard the guest experience and elevate the physical environment of The St. Regis London.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support the Director of Engineering in overseeing daily engineering and maintenance operations
2. Assist in maintaining HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, and life safety systems
3. Contribute to the execution of preventative maintenance schedules and ensure equipment operates efficiently
4. Participate in facility inspections and report on conditions requiring attention or improvement
5. Help ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
6. Assist in implementing emergency response protocols and act as a key member of the facility’s emergency response team
7. Provide guidance and support to engineering team members, promoting a culture of excellence and accountability
8. Coordinate with other departments to address operational needs and enhance guest satisfaction
9. Maintain accurate logs, records, and compliance documentation in accordance with brand and legal standards
10. Support the procurement and upkeep of equipment, furnishings, and supplies
11. Help uphold brand standards by ensuring the property remains in impeccable condition
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a hands-on leader with technical expertise and a refined approach to property care. You should bring precision, resilience, and a deep understanding of engineering operations in a luxury hospitality setting.
You should have:
12. High school diploma or GED with 4+ years of engineering/maintenance experience, or a 2-year degree in Engineering or related field with 2+ years of experience
13. Technical training in HVAC-R, electrical, or plumbing
14. Proven ability to manage budgets, projects, and preventative maintenance programs
15. Strong leadership and team development skills
16. Knowledge of regulatory compliance and safety standards
17. A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and attention to detail
18. Experience in luxury hospitality or high-end residential environments preferred
