Working within our social work teams, you will join a passionate, driven team dedicated to achieving positive outcomes for those we support. Based in the beautiful market town of Penrith, with the Lake District nearby, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in a close-knit community.
We have recently introduced a career grade for social workers from Grade 11 to Grade 13, for those holding a Best Interests assessor, Practice Educator, or AMHP qualification. Regular training is provided to support career progression at Westmorland and Furness.
Who we are looking for…

You will have experience in independent assessment and support planning, along with a good understanding of current legislation, theoretical models, and best practices. The ideal candidate will be confident in managing risks, making sound decisions in unpredictable situations, and contributing to team planning and resource allocation. Strong communication, people management, and collaboration skills are essential, as is the ability to create innovative, person-centred interventions that empower individuals.
Our Adult Social Care vision is “People living in a place they call home with the people and things they love, in communities where they look out for one another, doing the things that matter to them.”
We seek individuals with the right values to join our teams across Adult Social Care. We encourage you to share your motivations, interests, and values in your application, including what attracted you to this role and how your values align with the role of a Social Worker.
