Offer description

Swindon, United Kingdom
Bournemouth, United Kingdom

This role will be within our Creative Centre of Excellence, which sits within our broader Customer Marketing team. There are a number of squads focused on delivering marketing activity for specific objectives, and these squads are supported by our Creative Centre of Excellence team. The purpose of our team is to support the creative teams within the squads with achieving personalised communications that are impactful, compelling, and meaningful to our customers to ensure we are driving value in everything we do.

As a Marketing Consultant in the Creative Centre of Excellence, you will play a key role in supporting squads with the delivery of best-in‑class creativity through accurate processes and delivery of training and development, especially in a world of fast‑paced change. You’ll need to be a strong collaborator and be able to manage relationships with internal stakeholders and partners. If you have a keen eye for detail and enjoy working in an environment of process and governance, whilst also being able to draw on your creative flair, then we want to hear from you.

We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.

The working hours (per week) for this role can be between 21 and 28 hours. As this role is advertised as part time the salary will be pro rata.

This is a 15 month secondment opportunity.

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, base at either our Swindon or Bournemouth office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.

Nationwide is committed to the redeployment of our employees impacted by change, as such applications for redeployment candidates will be prioritised in this recruitment process.

Banking – but fairer, more rewarding, and for the good of society

We forge our own path at Nationwide.

As a mutual, we’re owned by our members – those customers who bank, save or have a mortgage with us. We challenge the financial sector status quo. We don’t see customers as the engine of our own profit. We share our profits with them and put their needs first. Always there when they need us. Supporting them and their lives.

If you’re inspired by fairer finances, passionate about making a meaningful impact, and truly care about our customers, you’re one of us.

At Nationwide, you are challenged to grow and rewarded for doing so. Valued. Recognised. Inspired to be your best. As a community we want our working lives to count. As a team, we celebrate what we achieve. As a standard‑setter, we work for the good of customers, communities, and broader society.

We are purpose‑driven. Uncompromisingly customer. Unstoppably Nationwide.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be working in a small proactive team that has accountability for ensuring the creative delivery teams within squads are equipped with all the tools, processes and support to enable them to deliver successful campaigns.

You will support the squads by ensuring processes and guidance are accurate and relevant, helping ensure our risk and controls remain in a strong position. You’ll also support communicating any changes to ways of working and help with the delivery of onboarding support and training.

You will work collaboratively across a large team, so stakeholder management and influencing skills will be essential and you’ll have a keen eye, spotting opportunities for improvement, and be adept at listening to feedback from squads and being able to proactively identify solutions. Familiarity and experience of direct marketing channels, such as direct mail, email, and digital prompts (in the internet bank and mobile app) will enable you to work closely with squads and respond quickly to challenges and opportunities.

You will be part of our Marketing community, but you’ll work with other teams too, including our Brand team, Planning Centre of Excellence and our Squads.

About you

We’re looking for somebody who has/is:

Experience working within a marketing or direct marketing environment, across all direct marketing channels

Experience of campaign management/delivery

A good communicator and influencer, confident at both writing and presenting

Excellent planning and organisational skills and ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deliverables. You’ll also be able to work within a regulated environment with detailed process documents

Excellent attention to detail and time management skills

Experience of managing and influencing internal stakeholders and experience of working with agencies

Proactive and empowered to make decisions within a framework and is resilient in your approach, able to overcome setbacks and have a solution‑focused mindset

A self‑starter and highly motivated, able to work in ambiguity and with a vague brief. You’ll be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team

Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:

Feel what customers feel – We step into our customers’ shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind

Say it straight – We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think – we’re honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand

Push for better – We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development

Get it done – We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes

You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
