Job Summary
Based at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust, the Digital Pathology AI Scientist will play a pivotal role in delivering clinically‑driven AI deployment within the NHS and validating AI tools through research. The position is focused on reducing waiting times for cancer diagnoses and lowering operational costs by advancing the use of artificial intelligence in healthcare.
Responsibilities
* Build, deploy and evaluate AI software tools for both research and clinical use.
* Keep up to date with current research trends and methodologies, adapting to external factors that may influence research direction.
* Manage workloads to support ongoing research projects and conduct independent research initiatives.
* Develop a broad range of AI solutions to support diverse research projects within the programme.
* Prepare and deliver reports to senior management and communicate complex technical information to stakeholders.
Qualifications
* Doctoral qualification (or close to completion) in AI in healthcare, digital pathology imaging, or a related field.
* Strong understanding of digital pathology imaging and the challenges that impact AI development and accuracy.
* Excellent technical and analytical skills for developing and evaluating AI tools.
* Experience working independently while prioritising tasks in a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
* High‑standard communication skills, able to present reports to senior management and explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
